Dr Brandon Blake D.D.S.

Welcome to Banner Elk Family Dentistry. I am delighted to announce the acquisition of the dental practice of Dr. John Johnson, DDS in Banner Elk, NC.

About three years ago, I joined Dr. Johnson, as an associate dentist. He and his staff welcomed me and as time passed, I knew I had found the perfect place for me to practice dentistry…permanently. I was born and raised in Marion, NC, attended McDowell High School and graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University in 2003, with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. In 2007, I graduated from the University of North Carolina Dental School in Chapel Hill, NC, and have been practicing dentistry in the tri-cities area of Tennessee.

My beautiful wife, has a dental practice in Johnson City, TN, and we have been blessed with three boys since we married in 2006. My hobbies include hunting, fishing, coaching the boy’s many sporting activities and cooking. I love to grill! I enjoy spending time with my family and we love to travel. I am most at home in the WNC mountains and love the Banner Elk community. I look forward to serving the good people of Avery County as your dentist and as a friend.

Misty Horn-Blake, DDS

Banner Elk Family Dentistry is delighted to announce the addition of Misty Horn-Blake, DDS, to our practice family. Dr. Misty Blake, is a native of Richlands, Virginia, and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2003. She and I met the first day of dental school at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where we graduated in 2007. We were married in 2006, and have been blessed with three very active, very busy, and very much loved boys. The addition of Dr. Misty Blake, will enable us more flexible hours as we continue to strive for excellence in dental care for you and your family. Mandy Edwards, RDH, CDA

Mandy graduated from Asheville Buncombe Technical Institute in Asheville, North Carolina as a Certified Dental Assistant and worked as a pediatric assistant for six years. In 2008, she graduated from AB Tech as a Registered Dental Hygienist. She has worked with Dr. Johnson, DDS for almost ten years and is a valuable, responsible, proficient health care professional with a personality that brings life and vitality to our office. She loves to work out, travel and spend time with her family. Mandy and her husband, Crandall, live in Marion, NC, with their daughter, Abby.

Erin Barrier, RDH

Erin graduated from Gilford Technical Community College in Greensboro, North Carolina, in 2002, and has has been working at our office her entire career. Erin is a dedicated, friendly, and proficient health care provider and a valuable member of our dental team. She loves to read and paint. She and her husband, Brandon, live very near the Blue Ridge Parkway near the Linville Falls community with their son, Walker.

Nicole Page

Nicole has worked in the Dental Administrative field since 2015. She and husband, John, live in Jonas Ridge and have been happily married since 1998. They have three amazing children: Sydney – a student at UNC Chapel Hill, Taylor – a student at Avery County High School, and JJ – a student at Crossnore Elementary. Along with the beautiful chaos of being a mom, she enjoys reading, traveling and time spent with family and friends.

Carla Barnette

Carla is a native of Avery County but has called Roan Mountain, Tennessee home for the last 30 years. She has worked in the dental field for 17 years beginning as a dental assistant then working as a lab assistant at Spradling Dental Lab for 16 years. She and husband Justin Barnette have two children, Mason and Josie, who are her world. Her hobbies and interests are anything that involves the beach.

Wendy Moody

Wendy joined our team in June, 2019 and has been a Registered Dental Assistant for 21 years. She enjoys meeting and talking with each patient and making them feel comfortable while achieving a healthy and friendly environment. She consistently strives to maintain a safe and organized operatory that meets or exceeds OSHA standards. Wendy and her husband, PJ, have been married for 25 years, and live in Roan Mountain, Tennessee. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and her hobbies include riding motorcycles and listening to country music on old back roads and discovering new adventures with PJ.

Jessica Cook

Jessica, as Dr. Johnson’s daughter, began working in dental administration as a teenager. She and her husband Bill live in Boone, where her primary occupation is homeschooling their four children: Emily, Timothy, Rebecca, and Peter. Jessica also enjoys playing the violin and other instruments and is very involved in the music and ministries in their church.
